Retired Educators resume meetings
RANGELEY — The Franklin County Retired Educators will resume their fall meetings at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, in the Rangeley Episcopal Church.
The program will be a presentation by staff from SeniorsPlus.
Annual dues of $10 will be payable at this meeting. The book swap will be available.
Lunch will be chicken pot pie for $12. Phone tree callers will contact members for a lunch count.
Reservations are required by Monday, Sept. 18.

Storytellers Guild to meet
FARMINGTON — The Western Order of Dedicated Storytellers Guild will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month through Dec. 21, at the Farmington Public Library, 117 Academy St.

SeniorsPlus representatives in Bethel
BETHEL — Representatives from SeniorsPlus will be in Bethel from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at the Norway Saving Bank.
They will be on hand to answer questions or address concerns the community may have about SeniorsPlus services and resources for older adults and adults with disabilities and their families.
It is free and open to the public, but appointments are required.

Maine Indian tribes talk at Society
PARIS — Paris Cape Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at 77 High St.
After a brief business meeting, Peter Stowell will speak on the origins and fate of Indian tribes that lived in Maine. They were known as Abenakis, spoke Algonquian, and comprised many different tribes. Stowell will give a comprehensive history of the Abenakis, and tell of their relationship with the French, English and Canadians.
Refreshments will be served after the meeting, to which everyone is welcome.
New meeting location for storytellers
FARMINGTON — The storytelling guild in the Farmington area, WOODS (Western Order of Dedicated Storytellers), is moving its monthly meeting to the St. Joseph Parish Hall at the intersection of Middle and Quebec streets beginning on Thursday, Sept. 21.
The meetings are held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month and are free and open to the public.
All types of stories are welcome, from historical stories, folk tales, to personal stories. Each story can take just a few minutes to tell, up to about 15 or 20 minutes. Telling is always optional, and listeners are not only welcome, they are vital to the interactive art form.

Museum nearly reaches reconstruction goal
WILTON — The Western Maine Play Museum August Mystery Dinner raised $1,200 for the museum. They are hoping to hold another such event next year.
From May through August, the museum received $350,000 from a state facade grant and a Northern Border Regional Commission grant. With the grants, the museum has raised almost its entire $700,000 reconstruction goal.
The museum board is working with the town of Wilton to ensure that the grant paperwork is done correctly.
The design committee is reconvening to work out the details on exhibits and the museum is starting to think about hiring. Until recently, opening to the public was a dream without a date. Now they are planning to open next year.
