RUMFORD — Doris M. Martineau, 88, formerly of Kimball Ave. in Mexico, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Rumford Community Home following a long illness, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Mexico on February 7, 1929, a daughter of Thomas J. and Mary Rose (DesRoches) Richard.

Doris was educated in Rumford schools and attended Stephens High School.

She married Arthur W. Martineau on December 6, 1947; together they celebrated 63 years together. He passed away on March 15, 2010.

Doris was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior.

She enjoyed cooking, playing cribbage, reading, dancing, sewing and working with crafts.

Doris’ biggest joys in life were spending time with her husband Arthur, her children and her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Frederick Martineau and companion, Nancy Horton, of Solon, Stephen Martineau and wife, Gisele, of Tolland, Conn., Randall Martineau of Mexico, Donna Rotford and husband, David, of Mexico and Robert Martineau and wife, Kelly, of Norridgewock; a sister, Yvonne McHale of Deerfield, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Michael Prue, Shane Martineau, Gabrielle Martineau, Adriana Martineau, Brian Martineau and wife, Maria, Jillian Kazienko and husband, Timothy, Rachel Brown and husband, Adam, and Jessica Prue and husband, Chris; and five great-grandchildren, Cooper, Elliot, Abigail, Cameron and Allegra.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Arthur, a sister Marie Cote, and brothers, Arthur “Archie” Richard, Joseph Richard and Rene Richard.
