LEWISTON — Pauline J. Bragdon, 83, a longtime resident of Leeds, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 24, at the home of her daughter, Elaine, in Lewiston, following a battle with cancer. Her family remembers her as a generous, selfless, hardworking, loving mother, grandmother and friend.

She was born on Feb. 4, 1934, the daughter of Benjamin Smith and Leola (Curtis) Smith. Pauline loved cooking for her family and was proud of the fact that she was a cook at Charlie’s Diner, later at Curly’s Restaurant and most recently had worked at the Springbrook Golf Course. She was also a co-owner of the Red Roof.

She was a generous and loving caregiver to many, well known by many and loved by all. Pauline loved each and every one of her little dachshunds, especially her latest, Misty, who was her constant companion.

She is survived by six of her seven children; two sons, Stanwood Kemp, Dennis Kemp and his wife, Judy; four daughters, Charlene Kemp and her companion, Doug White, Rowena Fletcher, Arlene Richard and her companion, Bill Rines and Elaine Bragdon; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her brother, Wilbur Smith and his wife, Delores; three sisters, Ruth Travers, Ida Crocker, and Nellie May Rolfe and her husband, Ray; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; a son, Sherwood E. Kemp, who died on May 6, 2017; brothers, Lewis and Harry Smith; a sister, Irene Bowden; a son-in-law, Royce Burgess; and grandson, Andrew Peterson.
