It feels as if the hatred and divisiveness in this country has grown to astronomical proportions. The hateful rhetoric I hear every day continues to grow throughout every aspect of our lives, from political, to sports and to other countries. White supremacy has reared its ugly head once again, and we have a president who supports that kind of hate.
What has happened to “love one another”? America will not be great if it continues on the destructive path the country is currently following. Health insurance is being taken away from people who are ill, elderly and disabled. The president encourages police officers to be violent.
I am a lifelong Democrat. However, I want Republicans and Democrats to work together to make this country a better place.
Martin Luther King once said, “We must pursue peaceful ends through peaceful means.” It is time we all listened to those words and what they actually mean.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
