Ridge Run benefits Second Chances

CARTHAGE — The Ridge Run to benefit the Second Chances Foundation will take place Saturday, Oct. 14, at 9 Highland Dr.

There will be a 5K and 10K beginning at 10 a.m., with a free lunch and bus tours beginning at 11:30 a.m. The event will feature an open house, music by Fat n Jacked and a raffle table. This is an all ages, family event.

Preregistration is $25 for the 5K race and $35 for the 10K, and it can be completed at tinyurl.com/y9cln8kz.

SeniorsPlus at Wilton library

WILTON — SeniorsPlus will be at the Wilton Free Public Library the first Thursday of every month from 1 to 4 p.m. The organization will be on hand to answer questions or concerns about services and resources for older adults and adults with disabilities and their families.

Pine Tree Quilters Guild meeting 

NORWAY — The Pine Needles Chapter of the statewide Pine Tree Quilters Guild meets from 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays in the community room of the Norway Town Office, year around.

Both hand and machine quilters are welcome.

There is a schedule of optional activities, such as occasional road trips, group projects and monthly trips out for lunch.

Le Paresseux to install officers

RUMFORD — The officers and members of Le Paresseux Club will host the installation of officers for 2017-2018 at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at the clubhouse, 227 Waldo St.

The Fraternal Union of Maine and New Hampshire meeting and election of officers will be held at 2 p.m. at the club. A meatloaf supper will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. for $8 a person, $4 for children 12 and younger.

Music for the evening will be the Noel and Fawn Palmer band. They will play from 7 to 11 p.m. for the dance and installation of officers. The installation of officers will be at 8 p.m. There will be a charge of $2; those who attend the supper will not be charged again at the door.

‘Dangers of Social Media’ talk

HARRISON — Justin Carras will present “The Dangers of Social Media” at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Caswell Conservancy Center, 42 Main St.
