AUBURN — Harold “Bill” Duball Jr., 79, died Friday, Oct. 6, at Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn after a short illness. The son of Harold Sr. and Lena Meskimen Duball, Bill was born Dec. 20, 1937, in Iowa City, Iowa. Mr. Duball graduated from McGregor High School in McGregor, Iowa, as class valedictorian in 1955. He joined the United States Navy in June 1955. In June 1957, while serving at Brunswick Naval Air Station, Bill met Aline M. Ouellette. They were married June 28, 1958. Bill proudly served his country as an electronics technician for 20 years in the Navy before retiring as master chief June 30, 1975. Bill went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in industrial arts from the University of Southern Maine in 1979. He taught electronics at Lewiston Regional Technical Center, formerly Lewiston High School Vocational, until retiring in June 1999. Mr. Duball was a member of the Mere Creek Golf Club, Fleet Reserve Association, Epsilon Pi Tau fraternity and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing daily with his buddies, gardening, fishing and family outings with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Aline; his three sons, Steve of Richmond, Va., Greg of Stratham, N.H., and Scott and his wife, Kim of Milford, N.H.; his grandchildren, Jacob, Joseph, Bryanna, Chelsea, Kyle, Ryan, Zachary and Tyler; and his great-grandsons, Brayden and Connor. Also surviving is a brother Jerry and his wife, Kay of Hiawatha, Iowa; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was predeceased by a daughter, Lesa Ann Duball-Pratt; granddaughter Hillary; twin sisters Betty Lou Duball and Patricia Lee Duball; and a brother, James Duball.
