BUCKFIELD — Allen D. Young, 72, of Buckfield, passed away Monday, Oct. 2, at his home, after a short battle with cancer.

He was born Jan. 31, 1945, in Buckfield, the son of Claude and Alice (Paine) Young. Allen attended Buckfield High School. He married Margaret A. Fox on Oct. 4, 1964, at the South Paris Baptist Church.

Allen was known to be a jack-of-all-trades. Some of his work history included forestry, construction and auto mechanics. He could fix about anything and enjoyed helping others. In his younger years, he enjoyed working with his dad, coaching and playing baseball, hunting with his family, fishing, photography, and riding his motorcycle. He loved spending time with his family.

Allen was predeceased by his parents, Claude and Alice Young, brothers, Claude Young Jr., Earl Young and Donald Young, sisters, Mae Norton, and Wilma McAllister, and son, Allen C. Young Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret (Peggy) Young; son, Corey Young and wife, Debbie of Rumford, son, Darren Young and wife, Brenna of Sabattus; daughter, Jennifer Young and partner, Joe Brickel of Buckfield; grandchildren, Mike Stevens, Scott, Allen, Haley, Bishop and Jonah Young, Jamie, Preston and Camryn Brickel; and eight great-grandchildren; brothers Roy and James Young; and sisters Idella Jack and Alice Williams and her husband, Charles; and many nieces and nephews.

Allen will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his patience, honesty, gentleness, and his love for his cats. He was proud of his family and will be deeply missed by many.
