It is critical that the next mayor of Lewiston is a great communicator, practices the utmost transparency and has policies to strengthen the community. The mayor must push for significant steps to fight the opioid crisis, stop the continued raising of property taxes, protect the taxpayers’ best interests and be a symbol for the city of Lewiston to the rest of the state.
Ben Chin is the candidate that best exemplifies those needs, and he is the candidate that Lewiston deserves. He has a vision for Lewiston that benefits all sides of the aisle, from Oak Street to Pond Road and everyone in between. He is the only candidate with a full-fledged belonging agenda to help the community against the opioid crisis. And he will be amazing for economic development and social equality of everyone, from new Mainers to fourth-generation Lewistonians.
Ben Chin for mayor.
James Ayotte, Auburn

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
