LEWISTON — Local fiddler and orchestra teacher Greg Boardman will give a recital of the music and poetry of Dudley Laufman at Trinity Church this coming today, Wednesday, Oct. 18, from , from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Admission is free.

Laufman is considered a seminal influence and inspiration by Boardman, in his love for all things relating to New England fiddling and dancing, as it evolved from the early European settlers of our area.  Known primarily as a “Pied Piper of New England contradancing,” calling and playing for dances all over New England and across this country and the Atlantic,  Laufman is also an active and published poet.  A small number of his poems will be read, interspersed with tunes and songs Laufman’s and his own composition as well as several traditional tunes from centuries past.
