LEWISTON — Daniel K. Cyr, 82, passed away at his home Wednesday, Oct. 11.

He was born in Van Buren on July 8, 1935, the son of the late Nazaire and Alfreda (Bell) Cyr. Dan graduated from St. Dominic High School in 1954. After graduating, he joined the United States Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War, and retired in 1974.

He went on to work for Sears and Roebuck as a warehouse manager for over 20 years. He later worked for Bates College, Damon Insulation, East Branch and retired from Ross Express in 2006.

He was a member of the VFW, Eagles Club and the American Legion. He was a member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church in Lewiston, and served as a deacon.

Dan loved his New England sports teams; he was faithful to watch his Red Sox, Boston Bruins and New England Patriots games. He enjoyed watching his grandsons, Zachary and Jacob play sports and joking around with them. Dan was always happy to attend family gatherings and his group outings. He was especially proud of his military service. He liked spending time at his camp at Danforth Bay in New Hampshire. He loved his dogs, Chico, Kato and Mocha.

Dan is survived by his children, Scott Cyr and wife, Lisa of Rochester, N.H., Glenn Cyr and wife, Joan of Somersworth, N.H., John Cyr and partner, Phillip Talamo of Palm Springs, Calif., Kevin Somerville and wife, Carey of DeLeon Springs, Fla., Tricia McBride and husband, Scott of Lewiston, Heidi Green and husband, Tyler of Colchester, Vt.; his three brothers, Eugene Cyr and companion, Della of Sabattus, Victor Cyr and wife, Sharon of Warner Robins, Ga., and David Cyr of Lewiston; his four sisters, Elaine Berube of Auburn, Nancy Henaire of Biddeford, Vivian Cyr of Lewiston, and Mona Bosse and husband, Paul of Peoria, Ariz.; his sister-in-law, Bernadette Cyr of Lewiston; his eight grandchildren, Audra, Shaina, Mitchell, Meaghen, Colin, Zachary McBride, Jacob McBride and Drake Somerville; his two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Irene (Lussier) Cyr; his brother, Gilman Cyr; his sister, Jeanine (Cyr) Seversick; and his granddaughter, Chelsea Cyr.
