I am writing to endorse the re-election of Joline Landry Beam to represent Ward 6 on the Lewiston City Council.
I have known Beam and her family for almost 30 years. She has a great record as an educator and as a public servant, first on the school committee and the Maine House of Representatives and now on the city council.
She has many qualities that make her an effective and constructive member of the council. Most impressive is that she is an intelligent and independent thinker, who pays close attention to the views of others and takes their opinions into account when dealing with the challenges facing the city.
This combination of intelligence, independence and concern for others is one of many reasons why I support her re-election to the Lewiston City Council.
