BUCKFIELD — After an early Islesboro goal, Buckfield scored five unanswered to defeat the Eagles 5-3 on Thursday in the teams’ Class D South boys’ quarterfinal.
Noah Wiley and Victor Verrill led the Bucks in scoring with two goals apiece, with Zach Grover also adding a goal. Buckfield put up 25 shots and Islesboro goalkeeper Xan Howell had 19 saves.
For the Eagles, Jon Bareford, Patrick Kahoe and Finnian O’Maria scored in the losing effort. Buckfield keeper Rick Kraske saved 12 shots in the win.
