DEAR SUN SPOTS: The 54th Annual Auburn Ski Association Ski Swap will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12,  at Auburn Middle School, Falcon Drive. There will be new and used winter sports equipment, including skis, boots, poles, snowboards, helmets and clothing.

To sell quality used equipment on consignment, bring items to the school cafeteria from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. There is a 50-cent per item charge and ASA keeps 18 percent of the sales proceeds. Checks from the sale of items will be available from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Special thanks to our loyal customers, vendors and volunteers who make the ski swap possible each year. ANSWER: I’m a firm believer that every child in Maine should have the opportunity to learn how to ski. ASA is a nonprofit organization providing financial support for Alpine and Nordic race programs at Edward Little High School, Auburn Middle School and Lost Valley Racing Club. ASA also provides scholarships and purchases equipment for area teams and clubs and supports an after-school learn-to-ski program for Auburn grade school students through the Merrick Chadbourne Memorial Fund.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: We have been the lucky recipients of free meals by a generous person twice at the Gridiron and twice at Chummy’s in Lisbon Falls. What a happy and pleasant surprise they were. Thank you so much to our unknown benefactor. We have passed it on.
