Two handsome crops of apples are being harvested on General Turner Hill in the town of Turner. At the Hale place, Manager C. G. Anderson has a crew of men picking Baldwins and other fruit including Northern Spies. A great improvement has been made in the orchard by him during the past few years and now the trees are loaded with fruit, the greater part of which is nicely colored. He estimates that his crop will exceed 400 barrels. The entire crop of fruit has been sold to F. A. Ricker, who is having them packed as they come from the orchard.

Auburn city councilors decided Monday that they wished to consider an ordinance that would prohibit residents from parking trucks weighing more than 8,000 pounds on public city streets. The draft ordinance may be voted on at their meeting next week, and could contain provisions to allow temporary parking if a resident wanted to stop by his home for lunch. The request for the parking ban came from former Councilor Richard Lachance who said that some large diesel trucks are parked in his neighborhood and started up at 5:30 a.m. He said the trucks were a safety hazard for children trying to cross the street because they were so wide, and he said that diesel fuel could be leaking into the city’s water system.
