LIVERMORE FALLS — Police are investigating a break-in on Cargill Street where a “substantial amount of cash was stolen,” Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Monday.

Officer Stephen Gould investigated the burglary, which was reported at 6:09 p.m.

The resident left the home for a short time Thursday and returned early evening and found the front door open. The resident called police and waited until they arrived before entering, because it was unknown if anyone was still in there, he said.

The incident was forced-entry through the front door, he said.

Steward declined to say how much cash was stolen.

Some items in the house were tipped over, including a TV.
