Luncheon acknowledges female veterans

RUMFORD — American Legion Post 24 and the American Legion Department of Maine Women Veteran’s Advisory Committee will honor women veterans at the fifth annual women veterans’ luncheon to be held on Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Post 24, American Legion, 184 Congress St.

The event will begin with refreshments and morning pampering from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by lunch at 12:30 p.m. and guest speakers at 1 p.m. Local professionals have donated their time to provide manicures, haircuts and styling, Reiki and mini massages on a first come, first served basis.

RSVP by Wednesday, Nov. 1. All women veterans are welcome and need not be a Legion member to attend.

MEXICO — The Mexico Trail Blazers will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, downstairs at the Mexico Town Office, 134 Main St. All are welcome.

Warm Coat Giveaway Nov. 3

INDUSTRY — Shorey Chapel’s annual Warm Coat Giveaway will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3,  and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 4, at Shorey Chapel, 1109 Industry Road, Allens Mills Village.

Contradance planned in Norway

NORWAY — A contradance will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at Christ Episcopal Church, 35 Paris St.

Music will be by the Better Late Than Never Band, with caller Chrissy Fowler.

Beginners are welcome with or without a partner.

Elmwood Cemetery annual meeting

OTISFIELD — The annual meeting of the Elmwood Cemetery Association will be held at 1:30 p.m. SaturdayNov. 4, at the East Otisfield Baptist Church.

Pumpkin Walk Nov. 4

LIVERMORE FALLS — The Hillside Sports Club annual Pumpkin Walk will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4. The club is dedicating this year’s walk to two members, Bre Hewins and Beonka Kissinger, who were instrumental in the success of the community event.

The festivities will start at 11 a.m. and run to 2 p.m. at the AYS building (formerly LFHS cafeteria), with pumpkin carving for all ages. Pumpkins will be provided.

Members are looking for donations of pumpkins and Halloween decorations, bales of hay or anything that fits the theme. They are inviting local organizations, youth groups and school classes to participate.

There will be hot mulled cider or cold cider with treats while going through the walk.
