Right now, there are families and children living in Lewiston with no heat, broken smoke detectors, leaky windows, dangerous lead paint and worse. Voters have the power to make sure all residents have housing free of major health and safety violations.
Ben Chin has a strong plan to reform code enforcement by supporting landlords and property owners who are doing the right thing: offering free trash pickup from the city to all who register their properties in good standing. His plan would make sure that landlords that put families in danger and break the law are held accountable.
By rewarding the leaders of the housing market and enforcing the rules on the books, all kids in the community can have a safe and healthy place to live.
That is why I am voting for Ben Chin for mayor.
Melissa May Stevens, Lewiston
