I am writing in support of Safiya Khalid for school committee. She is a smart, conscientious, and talented young woman who cares about her community.

A product of Lewiston public schools herself, Khalid is eager to make sure the next generation has even more opportunities than she had.

I know that, as a member of the school committee, she will listen to parents, students and teachers and work hard every day to make the schools better. That is why she won the endorsement of the Lewiston Democratic Party, and why I am proud to support her on Nov. 7.
