Public skating

HEBRON — Robinson Arena at Hebron Academy will be open for public skating from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sundays beginning Nov. 12 through March 4. The cost is $3 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under. Children participating in the Maine WinterKids Passport program skate for free. Skate rentals are not available. Thrift Shop Bag Sale 

CENTER LOVELL – The Thrift Shop of the Lovell United Church of Christ, Route 5 in Center Lovell, will hold its Fall $2 a Bag Sale through Nov. 11. Shop hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon. Come check out the lovely fall clothing and household items.

Kids’ Night Out at Boxberry

HARRISON — Boxberry School will give parents the night off when it hosts Kids’ Night Out from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11There will be autumn-themed games and activities for children in grades kindergarten through sixth. A healthy snack will be provided. Children should also bring water bottles, tooth-brushing supplies and pajamas so that kids are ready for bed when they get home.

Coat Room open

OXFORD – The Coat Room, a program of RightStart, will be open Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. Offering a free coat for everyone, the Coat Room is located in the Oxford Plaza between Ocean State Job Lots and Label Shopper. 

No application is necessary. One coat, hat, pair of gloves, pair of ski pants will be given per person, based on availability. Please bring family members with you.

Donations may be taken to Norway Laundry on Paris Street in Norway.

Homemade pies for sale

PARIS — Homemade pies for Thanksgiving will be available through AMVETS Auxiliary 777. Pies, all made from scratch natural ingredients, will be apple, pumpkin or custard. Orders will be taken until Saturday, Nov. 11. Apple and pumpkin are $12 and custard is $13.

Pies will be made Sunday, Nov. 19, and may be picked up from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at 12 Church St. Payment will be due at the time of order.

NORWAY – Community breakfasts have moved! Free community breakfasts will be held every Saturday morning from 8 to 9 a.m. at the American Legion hall, Main St. in Norway. All are welcome!

Luncheons

NORWAY — Oxford Hills Area Association of Churches will serve the Norway Community Free Lunch at 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays at the Universalist Church, 479 Main St. Anyone can eat a nutritious, no questions asked. 

OTISFIELD – An Otisfield Community Lunch will be served Wednesday, Nov. 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (please note time change) at the Community Hall, 292 Route 121. The meal is free; however, donations are accepted.

The menu will include roast turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, peas, squash, cranberry sauce, homemade pies, coffee and tea. Please invite someone new, perhaps someone who might not otherwise have a Thanksgiving dinner.

WATERFORD — A Senior Luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at the Wilkins House. Menu will include turkey pot pie, cranberry sauce, rolls and pie. A social hour with games and puzzles will be held followed by the noon lunch. Bingo will start at 1 p.m., with eight to 10 games being played. No sign up is necessary. Cost is $3. 

Suppers

OTISFIELD – On Nov. 11, there will be a baked haddock community supper at the East Otisfield Free Baptist Church. The menu will include baked haddock with crumbled cheese crust, roasted vegetables with kielbasa, peas, rolls and brownies for dessert. Various beverages will be available. The meal is free, but donations are graciously accepted and support church activities within the community. The meal will be served from 4.30 to 6 p.m. The East Otisfield Free Baptist Church is located on the Rayville Road in Otisfield, one mile from Route 121 (look for the sign by the road). Delicious home cooking – come and enjoy and be sure to bring a friend. 

WEST PARIS – The First Universalist Church of West Paris annual Chicken Pie Supper will take place on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 5:30 p.m., with a second seating around 6:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale at the door starting at 4:30 p.m. The prices for the supper are $10 for all age 13 and above, $5 for those 5 to 12 and children 4 and under are free. The menu includes the now famous homemade chicken pies, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, squash, cranberry sauce, rolls, dessert pies, coffee, tea, punch and water. 

Raffle tickets will also be sold for several items: a handmade Scrappy quilt, hand crocheted afghan, oil change (includes 27 point inspection) at Lee’s Auto of Norway, and a $25 Hannaford’s gift card; tickets are $1 each or a book of six for $5. The winners will be announced the evening of the supper, and do not have to be present to win. This is a much-anticipated event. Don’t miss it!

Thanksgiving dinners

NORWAY – Friends and families from the Oxford Hills are invited to give thanks and share a meal together on Thanksgiving day. Prepared by the members of St. Theresa of Calcutta Parish and Christ Episcopal Church in Norway, this annual free dinner will be served in the parish center at St. Catherine of Sienna Church, located on 32 Paris Street in Norway. There is plenty of parking behind the church on Beal Street. 

Guests will be seated by the host or hostess at the door and dinner will begin with a blessing at 12 noon. The meal includes roast turkey with dressing, mashed potatoes, squash and other traditional vegetables, followed by a choice of homemade pies.

NORWAY – A free community dinner will be held Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23, from noon to 3 p.m. at the First Universalist Church, 479 Main St. in Norway. All are welcome.

The meal will include hot-out-of-the-oven roast turkey, squash, mashed potatoes, vegetable, down-home hand-crafted stuffing, cranberry sauce, “chef’s special” gravy, coffee and soft drinks. Save room for dessert!

Harvest Fair

PARIS  — The First Universalist Church on Pine Street in South Paris, will hold a Harvest Fair on Saturday, Nov. 11, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There will be a food sale, crafts, collectibles, a white elephant table and lots of Christmas merchandise. There will be free books for kids. Lunch will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature beef stew or corn chowder, biscuits, pickles, coffee, tea and juice with a hot fudge brownie sundae for dessert for $7. Craft Fairs 

NORWAY — St. Catherine’s Sodality is having its Christmas craft fair on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Catherine’s Church in Norway.

MECHANIC FALLS — A craft fair will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the American Legion, 41 Elm Street in Mechanic Falls. There will be raffle tables, a bake sale and Rada knives. From 5 to 6 p.m. there will be a chili/chowder cook off and a corn hole tournament at 5 p.m. until over. The cost will be $15 for both the cook-off and corn hole tourney or $10 for the corn hole tourney.

MINOT – The “Mini but Mighty” fair at the West Minot Grange features well known vendors and talented crafters. Please come on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to start your holiday shopping with local folks. Two floors of crafters, artisans and direct sales vendors. CASCO — The Casco Village Church, United Church of Christ, is seeking vendors for its Christmas in the Village fair that will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at 941 Meadow Road, Route 121. 

A yearly tradition, Christmas in the Village hosts a variety of vendors, selling everything from baked goods and jewelry to beautiful handmade craft items.

NORWAY – The Annual Holiday Fair at Christ Episcopal Church, 35 Paris Street in Norway, will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fair will feature the Themed Basket Raffle, which has been a huge hit in recent years. Tickets may be purchased for the basket or baskets of your choice. Drawing will be the following day and winners will be notified. There will also be craft and Christmas items, delicious baked goods, including our famous bagged cookies.

Kid’s Korner 

WEST PARIS– The First Universalist Church of West Paris Kid’s Korner collects and distributes new and gently used clothing and other supplies, free of charge.

Come to the First Universalist Church of West Paris, 208 Main St. the first and third weekends of each month: Saturdays, 9 a.m. to noon and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Kid’s Korner is open on Nov. 18 and 19.

In addition to infant and toddler clothes, expanded winter clothing needs include larger size winter coats, hats, mittens, size 3 to teens; boys pants sizes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, toddler and boys sizes 10 and up; girls pants, same sizes; winter boots in all sizes girls and boys.
