CASTINE — Riley Robinson’s all-around performance helped the University of Maine at Farmington defeat Maine Maritime 68-66 in NAC men’s basketball action Tuesday evening.

Robinson, a former Dirigo standout, put up 19 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists for the Beavers.

UMF’s Milani Hicks led all scorers with 22 points. Mt. Blue graduate Eric Berry dished out seven assists, tying Robinson for the game-high.

Brendan Newcomb scored 21 points for the Mariners (0-4, 0-1). Riley Jorgenson added 17 points.

UMF (2-2, 1-0) hosts Johnson State (2-2, 1-0) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

CMCC 90, Unity 71

UNITY — Josh Chery dominated the inside and Elijah Barbour lit up Unity from the outside to lead the Central Maine Community College men’s basketball team to a 90-71 Yankee Small College Conference road win Tuesday.

Chery shot 11-of-15 from the field and finished with 23 points and nine rebounds. Barbour made 6-of-8 shots from 3-point range and scored 20 points for the Mustangs (8-1, 4-1 YSCC).

CMCC as a team shot well from deep, making 15-of-33 treys. Freddy Webb made three, while Akeem Laurie, Cody Tozier and Cam Duncan each sank two.

The Rams (2-6, 1-4) had four players score in double figures, led by Ben Denoncour’s 17 points. Den Suehiro had 15, and Adam Merrill and Hunter Engel had 13 apiece.

The Mustangs next host Hampshire (0-6, 1-7) on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Maine Maritime 69, UMF 50

CASTINE — Alayne Felix and Megan McLean led the Maine Maritime women’s basketball team to a 69-50 win over the University of Maine at Farmington on Tuesday.

Felix scored a team-high 12 points for the Mariners (2-1, 1-0 NAC). McLean put up 11 points and made a game-high five steals.

UMF freshman McKenna Brodeur, who was named NAC rookie of the week earlier this week, finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks. Paige Carter pulled down 12 rebounds for the Beavers.

The game featured three former Mt. Blue High School players: Emilee Eustis scored five points for UMF, and Caitlin Kane and Eryn Doiron each scored three points for Maine Maritime. Kane was playing in her first game of the season.

Beavers senior Janessa Talarico, who played at Lewiston, finished with six points and three rebounds.

UMF (2-2, 0-1 NAC) hosts Johnson State (0-3, 0-1) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
