LIVERMORE — Doris B. Gordon, 87, a resident of Livermore, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 26, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 2, 1930, in Lewiston, the daughter of J. Deneri Plante and Adrienne (St. Laurent) Plante, and attended schools in Lewiston. As a child, Doris spent summers on her uncle’s farm in Causapscal, Quebec. She married Paul R. Gordon of Livermore on Nov. 12, 1949, and celebrated over 60 years of marriage before his death in 2010. Since then, she has spent her winters with her daughter, Sandra Clifford, in Florida.

Through the years, Doris was a homemaker and worked at numerous jobs, including grocery and department store clerk, photographer, apple harvests, sewing and alteration work, stitcher at the Norwock/Bass shoe shop, and school bus driver for both the Riverview Memorial School in Norridgewock and the Jay School Department, retiring in 1992. Doris had many interests and talents. She loved sports and outdoor activities, meeting her husband at the Bear Pond roller skating rink in North Turner. Throughout their lives, they enjoyed smelting, fishing, hunting, swimming, boating, water skiing, snowmobiling, bowling, and gardening. She was a championship bowler in several women’s leagues. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, including knitting, crocheting, sewing, painting and ceramics. Above all, Doris was devoted to her Lord and Saviour and drew great strength from her faith. She was an active member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and she and her husband were founding members of the Turner Seventh-Day Adventist Church. The love, friendship and support among church members played an important role in her life.

She is survived by her children, Wayne and his wife, Paula, of Switzerland, Barry and his wife, Karla, of Bath and Sandra Clifford and her husband, Scott, of Sebastian, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Andrew, Molly, Zoë, Sean, Louis, Serena, Nicole, Jessica and Chelsey; and nine great-grandchildren, Morgan, Logan, Trevor, Sasha, Amelia, Mark, Tanner, Sèraphine and Aryk.

She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Gordon; her son, Stephen; her sister, Muriel Gaudreau; and her brother, Bertrand Plante.

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation of the service provided by the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice who helped make her last days more comfortable.
