FRYEBURG — A local man was arrested Thursday, a day after his truck went off Lovewell Pond Road and struck an SUV, pushing it into a garage and moving it off its foundation, Police Chief Joshua Potvin said in a news release.

Nelson Brown, 65, of Fryeburg was charged with aggravated criminal mischief and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

“We believe speed and driver impairment are factors in this crash,” Potvin said.

Fryeburg Police, Fire, and Rescue responded to 82 Lovewell Pond Road for a report of vehicle hitting a building early Wednesday evening. Officers found that a truck had hit a parked 2014 Toyota SUV, which was launched into the resident’s garage, shifting it from its foundation, the chief wrote.

The suspect fled in a 2006 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck, he said.

Brown, the driver suspected of leaving the scene, was arrested Thursday and taken to the Oxford County Jail in Paris. Bail has been set at $500 cash and Brown is scheduled to be in court Jan. 9, 2018.

“Fortunately no one was seriously injured in this crash,” Potvin said.
