The city of Lewiston has reached a crossroad. On Dec. 12, residents will be asked to vote for a new mayor. The choice consists of businessman and current Ward 4 Councilor Shane Bouchard and Maine People’s Alliance political director Ben Chin. They present voters with very opposite political perspectives.

Bouchard approaches Lewiston’s problems slowly and deliberately with the fiscal impact to local taxpayers on his mind. Chin presents an aggressive agenda with more promises than there are days in a year.

I sincerely believe that both candidates care deeply for Lewiston. In my opinion a slow, steady and methodical approach wins over trying to do everything at once.

On Dec. 12, I hope other Lewiston residents will join me in voting for Shane Bouchard as Lewiston’s next mayor.

Robert Macdonald, Lewiston
