WAYNE — The Cary Memorial Library will host two free afternoon musical events in December and January. Aging at Home in Wayne is sponsoring the monthly concerts to provide free entertainment close to home, especially as cabin fever sets in. Other local talent is planned for future months.
Singer/songwriter Karen Gray from Brunswick will be performing a mix of original and familiar music from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16. Her beautiful voice and elegant guitar playing combine to create a calming, refreshing break in what can be a hectic season of the year. She is currently recording a CD of original music at Frog Hollow Studio in Bath.
On Saturday, Jan. 20, also from 2 to 3:30 p.m., Ben Hunsberger will present an afternoon of music. Blending a lifelong passion for music with his unique perspectives on life, love, politics and nature, Hunsberger’s music is seasoned with flavors of Jackson Browne and The Beatles, and echoes of Brubeck and Mose Allison. Clear vocals backed by keyboard and guitar highlight his live performances. He has recorded eight original albums, and his latest effort, “New Paint,” is now available at cdbaby.com.
The Cary Library is located at 17 Old Winthrop Road, just off Route 133. The library is handicapped accessible and all are welcome. For more information, phone the library at 207-685-3612. For questions about weather cancellations or if transportation is needed, call 207-685-9378.
