LEWISTON — Maine is expecting a white Christmas. That also entails a fair amount of snow, sleet and freezing rain this weekend.
Among the storm preparations, the city of Lewiston plans two parking bans:
- 9 p.m. Friday until noon Saturday.
- Noon Christmas Day, Monday, until 6 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26.
The National Weather Service said the first batch of snow arrives Friday morning across Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, with up to 6 inches in southern Maine and New Hampshire.
Meteorologist John Cannon said that storm No. 2 arrives on Saturday with mixed precipitation across the region. He said it’ll be messy near the coast, and snowier in inland areas.
But that’s not all. He said a coastal storm will bring snow to Maine and New Hampshire late on Christmas Eve with the possibility of several inches of snow through Christmas Day.
This story will be updated when more parking bans and cancellations are announced.
