MEXICO — Participants in Mexico Public Library’s Taste the World monthly event experienced foods such as dill pickle-flavored chips from Germany, panettone bread with chocolate chips from Italy and Yugwa candy from Korea on Friday.

Director Heather Rogers started the monthly program in August with food from Colombia. Since then, patrons have experienced treats from Mexico, Turkey, Belgium and Pakistan. Because the latest tasting was in December, the holiday theme included a variety of foods from all over the world.

“It was surprising how eager the kids were to try (the food),” Rogers said. Her daughter, Phoenix, 8, said she wished there was more food and she wanted the rest of the bag of chips.

Aiden Knox, 7, said he did not like the sesame seed Chinese cookie while his mother said she liked the chocolate chip panettone bread the best.
