DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — Lauretta Rioux Lapointe died peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 26, after a long illness and brave battle. She was surrounded by family and friends.

Lauretta was born June 13,1930, in Lewiston and educated at local schools. She explored diverse avocations as a younger woman, but it was when she met and married Harry Lapointe that she became centered on family life and raising her three beautiful children: Gary, Robert and Lynn.

Lauretta was involved with her children’s activities at school and in sports, and later with her grandchildren’s activities. She was also known for being a great cook who loved creating meals for her family and friends.

For the past 20 years, Lauretta and Harry have shared their time between Lewiston and Delray Beach, Fla. Like everything else she did, Lauretta immersed herself in her Florida community and chaired the Sabah Pine social committee for several years, where her organization and decorating skills were greatly admired and appreciated.

Until the end, Lauretta made everyone around her smile and laugh with her wit and sense of humor.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Harry, and her sons Gary of Pownal, and Robert of Lewiston; her grandchildren Cody and Logan Lapointe of Pownal, Darcie (Lapointe) and her husband, Justin Toops, of Melbourne, Fla., Jacey Deschaine of Sabattus; and Ashley St. Pierre of Turner; and the recent joys of her life, her two great-grandchildren Aubree Deshcaine and Raylee Toops; her sister, Sr.Lorraine Rioux; brother, Donald Rioux and his wife, Raymonde; her sister-in-law and strongest supporter, Alfreda Jacob; along with her many nieces and nephews.

Lauretta was predeceased by her parents Lucia and Cyril Rioux; her brother, Larry Rioux; her sister, Lucille Belanger; her daughter, Lynn Lapointe; and her daughter-in-law, Sherry Lapointe.

Sincere gratitude to Bob and Jackie Marquis who were constantly at Lauretta’s side.

Lauretta R. Lapointe
