AUBURN — Joan Merrill passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, Jan. 2, where she resided with daughter, Nancy, service puppy, Sammy, and very special friend, Fred.

Joan was born Jan. 10, 1932, daughter of Arlene and Lester Johnson. She is preceded by her parents; her husband, Guy, of 51 years; son, Dana; and brothers Richard and Robert.

Best-known for her homemade biscuits and pies, Joan worked at the Auburn school lunch program, was chef at Hoops Basketball Camp, Assisted Home Care, delivered produce to local stores and ran a roadside produce stand.

Joan loved staying at her camps on Long Lake and Wild River, boat rides, trips to Disney and Christmas in North Conway, N.H.

The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thanks to Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice staff for their exceptional care and support, EIM, Pine Tree Home Care, NP Valissa Martin and her wonderful staff and Cathy Calden.
