The Sun has just completed the installation of an automatic sprinkler Ore protection system in its building on Park Street. The work was done by the Automatic Sprinkler Co. of America, the largest concern of its kind in the world. A. N. Wilson, a representative of that company being here in charge of the work. The sprinkler system protects The Sun most completely against fire. The general plan of the system is this. A series of pipes runs through the building along the ceilings from cellar to top floor. The pipes are filled with air pumped and kept at a pressure of about forty pounds. This air pressure keeps the water entirely out of the pipes and so prevents freezing in cold weather. The water is supplied by a six inch main connected with the city water supply in the street.

The Auburn VPS Partnership was given a unanimous green light to start its high-grade office paper recycling plant by the Auburn Planning Board Tuesday. “This is extremely good news and what’s been particularly nice about the whole experience has been the professionalism in the community,” said Edmund I. Nichols, a co-developer of the proposed $40 million plant. The plan calls for an 83.000-square-foot building to be built on 28 acres on Lewiston Junction Road. The facility will have the capability to recycle 250 tons of high-grade office paper into 200 tons of pulp to be resold each day. The plant is scheduled to be in operation by fall 1994.
