FARMINGTON — Police said a Farmington man was charged with drug trafficking after they found cocaine and marijuana at his downtown apartment Thursday night.
Omer Havtan, 20, was arrested after police got a warrant and searched his apartment at 164 Broadway, Farmington Police Chief Jack Peck said. It is within 1,000 feet of Meetinghouse Park, a drug-free zone, which elevated the charge to Class A, which carries a penalty of up to 30 years in prison and up to a $50,000 fine.
Officer Michael Lyman and Sgt. Edward Hastings IV led the search.
The amount of cocaine and other substances found was not available Friday morning, Peck said.
The arrest came after police began investigating downtown drug trafficking a few weeks ago, he said.
Jonathan Toothaker, 22, was also arrested at the apartment on two warrants and violation of conditions of release, Peck said.
The men remain at Franklin County Detention Center Friday morning on bail of $25,000 cash for Havtan and $3,940 for Toothaker.
