SOUTH PARIS — Jean Lucien Bisson, 86, passed away Monday, Jan. 15, at Maine Veterans’ Homes in South Paris. He was born in Greene on July 29, 1931, the sixth child of Alphonse and Jeanne Bisson. He grew up on a farm in the Auburn area and attended Auburn schools. He joined the Army on Jan. 11, 1949, and served his nation in the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge on June 19, 1952. On Aug. 16, 1952, he married Agnes Kathleen Giddings. They soon started a family, whom they raised in Auburn and Turner.

Jean was a welder for many years and became very well-known for his exceptional and top quality work. He enjoyed working with his hands, especially outdoors, where he took great pride in the upkeep of his yard. He and Agnes retired and moved to Florida for 10 years but returned to Maine in 2005 to be close to family and for medical reasons. He lost Agnes in November 2012 after 60 years of marriage.

Jean is survived by one sister, Jeanette Joncas, and her husband, Al; eight children: Linda Allison and her husband, Eugene, of Louisiana, Mike Bisson and his wife, Karen, of Turner, Nancy Bisson, of Turner, Roger Bisson and his wife, Susan, of Monmouth, Elaine Walker, of Turner, Brian Bisson and his wife, Ellen, of Lewiston, Malcolm Bisson and his wife, Camille, of Vermont, Tom Bisson and his wife, Kelley, of Turner; 23 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
