STANDISH — Jane Elizabeth Robertson Grass left her earthly body and joined her Heavenly Father and loved ones in heaven on Wednesday, Jan. 17. She was born June 30, 1925, in Auburn, to James and Marguerite Robertson and lived in Auburn until graduating from Edward Little High School in 1942.

Jane graduated from Farmington State Teachers College and taught home economics at Madison High School, where she met the love of her life. On Nov. 18, 1950, Jane married Calvin Grass; together they raised five children and spent 61 years together until his death in 2011. Jane’s legacy of love was never more evident than in the weeks surrounding her death, as friends visited and family cared for her. Her final day on Earth was an overflowing of love with her room packed with family, singing, praying, laughing, sharing stories and crying together.

Jane was a woman of great faith, an incredibly talented seamstress, avid crafter and an amazing cook who loved to feed people, making everything from pickles to breads. She freely gave of her life, herself and her talents to create joy in others’ lives. She was active in her church, past worthy matron of Dawn of Hope Chapter, OES, and past Maine state grand marshal.

Along with her husband, Jane was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; and daughter, Elizabeth. She is remembered in love by her children, Calvin and wife, Debbie, Gregory and wife, Cheryl, Miriam Walker and husband, Peter; son-in-law, Bruce Wescott, Rebecca Fisher and husband, Chuck; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Doris Grass; many nieces, nephews, dear friends and caregivers.

The family would like to thank MaineHealth Care at Home and VNA Hospice for their wonderful care and support.
