LEWISTON — Verna Chasse, 74, died at hospice on Saturday, Jan. 20. She was born in New Britain, Conn. She was the daughter of Emile and Lucille Cyr. After moving to Lewiston,Verna met her husband, Clarence Chasse. They married on May 4, 1962, and had five children. Verna left the shoe factory and became a stay-at-home mom. She later began a day care and not only raised her five children but baby-sat for 25 years until she was diagnosed with stage four cancer and couldn’t work, but survived. She was a fighter. Her enjoyment in life was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She leaves behind her husband of 55 years, Clarence Chasse; her five children, Tina Jordan and spouse, Craig, of Chesterville, Joe Chasse and spouse, Sandy, of Minot, Daniel Chasse and spouse, Cindy, of Phippsburgh, Lisa Fontaine and spouse, Anthony, of Lewiston and David Chasse and spouse, Amy, of Chicago, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
