Mt. Blue State Park Winter Family Fun Day

WELD — A Mt. Blue State Park Winter Family Fun Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at Mt. Blue State Park. There will be cross country skiing, snowshoeing and ice skating demonstrations. Snowshoes, skis and some ice skates are available for use.

There will also be guided snowshoe nature walks, a winter camping demonstration, fat bikes to try out, outdoor nature center, chain saw art demonstration, sliding on Center Hill, tote and hay wagon rides and other displays and activities.

There is a warming hut and a hot lunch is provided. Cost is $1.50, adults; free, kids under 12 and seniors over 65.

Waugh scholarship applications open

VIENNA — Applications are now available for the fifth annual Dorothy Waugh Memorial Scholarship sponsored by the Mill Stream Grange of Vienna. The scholarship will be awarded in June to an RSU 9 Mt. Blue High School or Foster Technical graduating senior. Applicants will be considered who are pursuing a career in agriculture, horticulture or animal husbandry.

Dorothy Waugh, a longtime resident of Vienna and member of Mill Stream Grange, was affectionately known as “the Egg Lady.” She left a financial legacy to several organizations in Vienna, including the Grange, and this scholarship is in honor and recognition of her devotion to the community.

Texas Hold’em poker 

PARIS — The AMVETS monthly Texas Hold’em poker tournaments are held at from 5 p.m. to midnight on the first Friday of the month at the American Legion Hall.

The event is open to the public. The Auxiliary will have a food concession open from 5 p.m. until the end of second break. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. Buy-in is usually $50 with a license fee of $5 and an optional $5 high hand.
