NORWAY — The Medical Marijuana Grow Facility Committee has scheduled a public meeting for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at the Norway Town Office, 19 Danforth St., according to Town Manager Dennis Lajoie.

Lajoie, who also serves on the committee, said the meeting’s purpose is to “seek the public’s input on appropriate limits concerning these facilities.”

The committee was formed after voters in October unanimously established a 180-day moratorium on medical marijuana growing operations.

Some selectmen and many residents said they were concerned about the number of proposals for medical marijuana facilities and the effect they would have on the downtown area.

Other committee members: Selectman Thomas Curtis, Planning Board members Dennis Gray and Mary Lou St. John, Code Enforcement Officer Scott Tabb, Fire Chief Dennis Yates and residents Jim McBride and Justin Gilmore.
