Plans are underway for the 2018 Relay for Life of Penobscot County, which this year will be held at the Bangor Raceway.

“The Relay for Life of Penobscot County is a very special event for this organization,” said Stacey Duran, Community Development Manager for the American Cancer Society. “Since 1993, we have raised millions of dollars to fight cancer, and formed a rock-solid community of cancer survivors and caregivers in this area. That’s why we continue to Relay For Life – for our community’s spirit, memory, and battle against this awful disease.”

The Relay for Life of Penobscot County kickoff to “Relay For Life Season” started last week. The Relay for Life of Penobscot County will begin with a soft start time of 4 p.m. on Friday, May 18, and a formal kick off time of 6 p.m. The event will wrap up at 10 a.m. the following morning.

The world’s largest grassroots fundraising movement, Relay For Life mobilizes communities throughout the country to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and provide participants with an opportunity to fight back against the disease. Relay brings together friends, families, businesses, hospitals, schools, faith-based groups – people from all walks of life – all aimed at furthering the American Cancer Society’s mission to save lives, celebrate lives and lead the fight for a world without cancer.
