HALLOWELL — The Harlow Gallery has announced its schedule of art-related workshops taking place on Saturday mornings in the new location at 100 Water St. The Harlow Gallery plans to take advantage of the new space by maintaining a steady schedule of workshops throughout the year.

The first workshops of 2018 include:

Create & Take — Valentines: 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 10. The public may drop in for a valentine’s Create and Take session. Participants may make valentines for coworkers, friends, classmates, family or significant others. A variety of materials will be provided, including envelope-making instruction, various templates and even some sweet treats. All ages welcome. This is a drop-in event; pre-registration is not required. Participation fee is $10 for adults or $5 for kids.

Pysanka: 9 a.m. to noon March 3. This Ukrainian egg-decorating workshop lead by Norma Ociepka is a step-by-step guided tutorial in the traditional Ukrainian craft of Pysanka. Using wax, dyes and a real flame, participants may create in this magical tradition. Tuition is $30 for members, $35 for non-members or $20 for kids ages 10 to 17. Pre-registration is required.

Sun, Moon, & Stars: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 17. This is a collage workshop lead by Robin Brooks where participants will use cut and torn paper, scissors and paste or glue to explore figure and ground relationships and to create unique collage compositions. This workshop is designed for all ages, 5 and older. Tuition is $20 for members, $25 for non-members, or $10 for kids ages 5 to 17. Pre-registration is required.

Crafting Ceramic Letters: 9 a.m. to noon March 24. Local ceramic artist Juliette Walker will lead this workshop in crafting ceramic letters. Beginning with a brainstorming session, each participant will come up with words or phrases they would like to see out in their community, and sculpt those out of clay. Juliette will then lead the group in crafting their own ceramic letters. Walker will photograph the letters around the town of Hallowell, and they will become a part of an online social media exhibition to follow. Tuition is $30 for members, $35 for non-members, or $20 for kids ages 8 to 17. Pre-registration is required.

Spaces for workshops can be reserved by calling 207-622-3813 or emailing kvaa@harlowgallery.org. For more details, visit www.harlowgallery.org.
