Rock climbing at Farmington Rec

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Recreation Department is offering free indoor rock climbing for adults 18 and older of all skill levels from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Farmington Community Center gymnasium stage.

The bouldering wall, which stands 8 feet tall and 40 feet wide, was acquired through the Carol M. White PEP Grant.

All those using the climbing wall must sign a liability waiver. For more information, call the rec enter at 207-778-3464.

Plate to benefit cancer research

BETHEL — Team Hailey Hugs, a nonprofit based in Bethel, has initiated the creation of the Maine Childhood Cancer Awareness specialty license plate. Registrations for the license plate will raise funds for the Maine Children’s Cancer Program for research.

Team Hailey Hugs’ goal is to enroll 2,000 Maine residents in the program by July 2019. Reaching this goal of 2,000 preregistered for the Maine Childhood Cancer Awareness plate will allow the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to draft the legislation required to create the specialty plate. This is an initiative that has the potential to raise $200,000 each year for the Maine Children’s Cancer Program.

The cost to preregister for the Maine Childhood Cancer Awareness license plate is $35 plus a $3 processing fee. For more information or to preregister, visit www.HaileyHugs.org or call 281-917-5331.
