A snowstorm expected to become a “solid thump of snow” is making its way across northern New England, with snow falling an inch an hour in some places.
It started Wednesday morning and came down strong in the afternoon. The snow may turn into a mix of sleet and rain over parts of the Maine coast.
The snow was expected to taper off Wednesday night
Local schools — including Central Maine Community College — canceled classes for the day.
