POLAND — Brittney Bell, a graduate of Poland Regional High School who attends the University of New England College of Dental Medicine, was one of five students selected to receive the 2017 Alva S. Appleby Scholarship from the Maine Dental Association Charitable Foundation.

Each of the students was awarded $5,000. To be considered for the annual scholarship, a student must be a resident of the state, have completed their first year of dental school and be currently enrolled in a dental school accredited by the American Dental Association.

Bell is a member of the class of 2019 at the University of New England College of Dental Medicine. She received her bachelor’s degree from Colby College. She has served on the UNE American Student Dental Association Service Committee, has been involved with the UNE Student Professionalism and Ethics Association and Interprofessional Education Collaboration, and participated in the 2017 American Dental Association and ASDA Lobby Day in Washington, D.C. She is the daughter of Nancy Bell of Poland.
