CONCORD, N.H. — The Central Maine Community College women’s basketball team started strong and finished strong, in conference play and in the Yankee Small College Conference Elite 8 tournament championship Sunday.

The top-seeded Mustangs downed second-seeded University of Maine-Augusta 74-58 to win the conference tournament after finishing the regular season 16-0 in conference play.

Jordyn Reynolds scored 16 points, collected 10 rebounds and blocked six shots to earn tournament MVP honors. Older sister Brooke added eight points, 11 rebounds and five assists and was named the tournament’s best defensive player.

Alex Bessey chipped in with 15 points, four assists and four rebounds for the Mustangs (28-1), who have won 26 straight games.

The Moose were led by Sidney Moore, who had 14 points and five rebounds, while Catherine Sanborn had 12 points and Dominique Lewis and Kylie Kemp added 11 points apiece.
