RUMFORD — Mrs. Rose A. Gaccetta, 95, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, at her residence on Linnell Street in Rumford.
Born in Rumford on Oct. 27, 1922, she was the daughter of Frank and Rosina (Pettinato) Anastasio. She was a graduate of Stephens High School, Class of 1941. Rose worked as a secretary and chief clerk for the Maine Department of Transportation until her retirement as office manager in 1984 after more than 34 years.
She was a communicant of the Parish of The Holy Savior St. Athanasius-St John Church in Rumford; she was formerly very active in the local Girl Scouts and was formerly active with the Athletic and Music Boosters.
Rose was married in Rumford on Oct. 9, 1944, to Daniel A. Gaccetta Sr., who died July 9, 2006.
Survivors include a son, Daniel Gaccetta Jr., and his wife, Ruth, of Plymouth, Mass.; a daughter, Ann Hamann, of Cumberland, R.I.; grandson, Brian Hamann, of Cumberland, R.I. She was predeceased by her five brothers, Frank, Philip, Joseph, Andrew and John Anastasio, and a sister, Marion Colontoni.
