PORTLAND — Stella M. St. Pierre, 96, of Falmouth, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, with her family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston on Oct. 27, 1921, a daughter of the late Wilfred H. and Corona (Gauthier) Marcoux. She grew up in the Lewiston area and attended local schools.

On April 11, 1942, she married the love of her life, Reginald E. St. Pierre, in Lewiston, and they started a family together. During that time she worked for Eastland Shoe for many years and then for L.L. Bean, from where she would retire in 1986.

Stella will always be remembered for her love of crocheting and knitting. She was also very passionate about her flower garden and her prestigious lawn ornaments. She also found great pride and happiness in cooking for her family. Milky Way candy bars always brought a smile to her face. She will be deeply missed by many.

She is survived by three of her children, Richard W. St. Pierre and his wife, Donna, of Lynn, Mass., Reginald G. St. Pierre Sr. and his wife, Sharon Hubbard, of Gray, and Dona R. St. Pierre and his wife, Susan, of Portland. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Rita Marcoux, of Lewiston; her eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Reginald E. St. Pierre; her daughter, Mona J. St. Pierre, who passed away many years ago; her grandson, Reginald G. St. Pierre Jr.; as well as her three siblings, Wilfred T. Marcoux, Adrienne Rojek and Lucien P. Marcoux.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Falmouth By The Sea for the nine years of care and devotion they showed toward Stella during her stay there with them.
