LISBON FALLS — Edward T. Madden, 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 28, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Lynn, Mass., the only child to the late Edward and Aleina (Smith) Madden. He graduated from St. Mary’s Boys’ Catholic school in 1951. After graduation, he went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force.
He was a lifelong military man. He served most of his time overseas in Japan, the Philippines and Thailand. Ed retired from the military as a senior master sergeant AC&W radar maintenance technician.
He worked at Bath Iron Works, was a manager of Lee Toyota in Brunswick, Realtor for Lord Real Estate and a park ranger for Winslow Park in Freeport. He was also a selectman for the town of Lisbon, ran for the state Senate and was a past president of Mended Hearts at CMMC.
He married his one true love, the former Ora Stevens, on September 7, 1991. Ed enjoyed playing cribbage, gardening, fishing and spending quality time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Ora Madden of Lisbon Falls, his children; Eddie “Butch” Madden III. and his wife Diane of Harrison, Linda Martin and her husband Rick of Hampton, N.H., Tim Madden and his wife Meryl of Saco, Dan Madden and his wife Colleen of Woolwich and Kate DeStefano of Manchester, N.H. He also leaves behind his stepson, Chris Stevens and his wife Karen of Lisbon Falls, his 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
