OXFORD — This year’s first meeting of Oxford County Educators Association-Retired (OCEA-R) will be Friday, March 16, at the Oxford Congregational Church. The meeting will start at 11 a.m., with sign-in beginning at 10:30.
After the business meeting, a meal will be served by the members of the church. The after-dinner program will be presented by Sally Harney of Winterbrook Farm in Oxford.
Harney has been active in knitting and spinning for years, and part of Winterbrook Farm is a woolen knitting mill. She makes, among other things, drier balls for driers and four designs of bird ornaments.
The final meeting of 2017 was held at the Locke Mills Legion Hall last November. The annual silent auction was held and the drawings for the scholarship fundraiser took place.
Between the apple pie sales and the scholarship raffle, the group made enough to provide several scholarships for Oxford County students who pursue post-secondary education.
Anyone who is retired and worked for a school in any capacity is invited to to join the group.
