POLAND — The Board of Selectpersons on Tuesday night approved $6,000 of town funds to repair a fence, and directed the town manager to look into the potential of converting streetlights to energy-saving LEDs.

At the Tuesday night meeting, the board voted to approve the money to repair fencing at White Oak Hill Cemetery in West Poland.

The board also directed Town Manager Matthew Garside to further explore the benefits of LED lighting.

At a gathering last month, a representative from RealTerm Energy told town officials from Norway, Oxford, Paris and Poland that they could save 75 to 80 percent in streetlight energy costs if they switched to LEDs.
