NEW SHARON — Fundraisers are being held to help Jessica and Chadd Harris with expenses for their infant son born with a rare heart condition and a hole in his diaphragm.

A fundraiser is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to closing Sunday, March 11, at The Roost Pub and Wingery at 187 Main St. in Farmington. All tips are going toward the family for medical, housing and any unexpected needs, Jessica Harris said.

Xxsavior “XX” Harris was born Jan. 29 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, and taken to Boston Children’s Hospital, where he remains. He was prenatally diagnosed with a rare condition where his heart functions with one ventricle, his mother wrote in a message.

“We were given a 1 percent chance at survival outside of the womb with the two rare conditions combined, making him one in a million,” she wrote.

“We were offered to terminate the pregnancy, but that wasn’t our choice to make,” she wrote.

The Harrises have been staying in Boston. Jessica Harris has gone home to Maine to see her older son, Max, a couple of times, and Max has been to Boston to visit.

Xxsavior had surgery to repair the hole in his heart when he was 2 days old and his first heart surgery at 8 days old, Harris wrote.

“He has overcome many obstacles and has and will have many more in front of him,” she wrote.

He won’t be able to leave the hospital until he learns how to feed on his own, and having a paralyzed vocal cord, that may be a long time.

Other ways to help the family are:
