JAY — A North Jay resident reported Monday afternoon finding two holes in the windshield of a Jeep Cherokee and a hole in one of the automobile’s tail lights.

The damage appeared to have been caused by BBs, according to Police Richard Caton IV, who said the Jeep’s owner was clearing snow from the vehicle when the damage was discovered.

Police in Jay and Livermore Falls have been investigating reports of damage to windows at homes and businesses or on vehicles. The damage was caused by BBs or ball bearings, police said.

On Feb. 24 glass on the front door of Franchetti’s Home Town Variety on Main Street in Jay was shattered.

A day later, Livermore Falls police investigated damage to a living room window and storm door at a house on Haines Corner Road and to two windows on a car on Richardson Avenue.
