The Royal Canadian Air Force announced it will have the 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron performing drills from March 23 to 27 in the White Mountain National Forest.
A news release from Sub-Lieutenant Melanie Aqiqi said the flying exercise — called Viking Alpine — will be during daylight hours and will consist of overflights, landings and takeoffs.
Aqiqi said the exercise will expose Canadian aircrews to the unique challenges of flying in mountainous environments.
Two Canadian Chinook helicopters and support personnel will be in the Lewiston-Auburn area as well as in the vicinity of the White Mountain National Forest.
