At its regular meeting Tuesday night the Lewiston City Council endorsed, by a 4-2 vote, the design proposal that would give the East Avenue to Pleasant Street stretch of Lisbon Street a center lane. The proposal, an amendment to the original design, provides for a 7-foot walkway on the northeast side and a 5-foot walkway on the southwest (or Androscoggin River) side of the street. Peter Poulin, a spokesman for the Lisbon Street Neighbors for Responsible Development, made up of businesses and residents, addressed the council regarding alternatives that should be explored before the proposed design was OK’d.
